Abu Dhabi Teacher Jailed for Two Years After Assaulting Four Pupils
By Abu Dhabi Desk

Sentence and Charges
A male teacher has been sentenced to two years in prison for assaulting four pupils, the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department said on Tuesday.
Assault Details and Evidence
He attacked the four pupils in a classroom at a private school in Abu Dhabi, according to a statement by the ADJD on Tuesday.
The assault left the pupils with injuries that prevented them from attending school.
The teacher admitted the charges during the investigation and in court, the ADJD added.
He admitted to “assaulting the students, claiming he did so to prevent them from causing chaos and disruption during the lesson, and in an attempt to discipline their behaviour”.
CCTV footage corroborated the confession, showing the violence inflicted on the pupils without justification.
Court Ruling and Consequences
Committing the offence inside a school during lessons meant the teacher was guilty of a breach of public security and order.
The court heard that protecting public order aims to safeguard society’s fundamental values, ensure the safety of its members and maintain respect for the law – principles that directly apply to this case.
The teacher will be deported after serving his sentence and will have to cover all the legal costs of the case, Abu Dhabi Criminal Court ruled.
The court was told the defendant’s behaviour represented a blatant breach of existing laws and regulations, underlining the necessity of firm legal enforcement to protect public safety, uphold individual rights and deter violations that harm people or undermine their security and stability.
