Dubai offers free breast cancer screenings and pink-themed events throughout October

October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, also known as Pinktober, a global initiative that encourages women to undergo screening and to support charities funding research and care.

In Dubai, a range of activities are taking place this month, from free medical checks to fundraising teas, spa retreats, dessert promotions and fitness sessions.

Free screenings across the UAE

Pink Caravan, which provided more than 19,000 free screenings to women across the UAE last year, will operate nine fixed clinics throughout October. These are located at Mushrif Mall in Abu Dhabi; Mall of Al Ain and Makani Zakher in Al Ain; City Walk in Dubai; Al Majaz Waterfront and Al Dhaid Mall in Sharjah; Mall of Umm Al Quwain in Umm Al Quwain; RAK Mall in Ras Al Khaimah; Lulu Mall in Fujairah; and Marsa Ajman in Ajman.

In addition to the fixed sites, Pink Caravan’s mobile clinic and mini‑mobile clinics will travel across the country during the month, bringing breast‑health awareness and screening to further communities.

For updates on the mobile units’ locations, follow @thepinkcaravan on social media.

Hotel and spa activations

At the Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates, Aspen Café will host a pink afternoon tea from 15 to 18 October in partnership with the Al Jalila Foundation. The three‑tier stand offers savoury and sweet pink bites accompanied by a signature welcome drink, with 10 percent of the price of each tea set donated to the foundation for medical research and life‑saving treatments. The cost is Dhs200 for a single serving and Dhs375 for a double; more information is available at kempinski.com.

Banyan Tree Dubai on Bluewaters will hold a one‑day charity wellbeing retreat on 24 October, open exclusively to women. The day begins at 08:30 with a kundalini yoga session led by Kristina Junker, founder of Kiju Yoga School, followed by a breast‑cancer awareness talk from Maison Sante and a breakfast at Tocha. The retreat costs Dhs270, with all proceeds going to the Al Jalila Foundation. Throughout October, the hotel will also donate 10 percent of the fee for every 90‑minute spa treatment to the same foundation. Reservations can be made via [email protected].

Restaurant and dining promotions

L’Amo Bistro del Mare, located at Above Eleven, invites diners to order its signature dessert, Zuppetta di fragole, during October. For each portion sold, Dhs30 is donated directly to the Al Jalila Foundation, and guests receive a complimentary La Mer beauty gift from Estée Lauder while stocks last. Bookings can be made through the Instagram handle @lamobistrodelmare.

Fitness and wellness experience

The Ritz‑Carlton, Dubai will present Pinktober Fit & Float on Wednesday 28 October from 19:00 to 21:00, in collaboration with Barry’s and Beyond Wellness. The programme includes a 45‑minute Barry’s fitness class, 45 minutes of floating sound meditation and dinner at Caña Beach featuring Latin‑American flavours by the Arabian Gulf. A portion of the Dhs329 fee will be contributed to the Al Jalila Foundation; bookings are taken via beyondwellness.com.

The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi will offer a Pinktober‑inspired afternoon tea in its Conservatory from 13:00 to 18:00 throughout October. The menu comprises delicate sweet and savoury items, fine teas and an elegant setting suited to leisurely afternoons. For every booking, 10 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Al Jalila Foundation to support breast‑cancer care. Prices are Dhs165 for the classic tea and Dhs240 when a glass of champagne is added; reservations can be made at destinationminaseyahi.com.
